Where do you call Home?
Melbourne

Where are you now?
Geelong

Where have you been in between?
Mostly working and finishing my degree in Melbourne, but did move to London for 2 years in 2012

Career progression since TP?
Was a paralegal in London for the 2 years I was there. Moved home and began my life as a lawyer working in litigation and insolvency in a small firm. Then moved to a medium sized firm for a few years to work in commercial/corporate which is the area I really wanted to work in. Then moved in-house and currently working at Fiat Chrysler Australia as their Legal Counsel.

Personal highlights?

  • Admitted as a solicitor
  • Travelled around Europe while I lived in London for those 2 years
  • Started my career as a lawyer
  • Got married
  • Had our first child last March

The future…..?
Continue to work in-house as a Legal Counsel and work towards a more senior and General Counsel position in the future. I will also keep my options open for another stint overseas as I think this would be great for a young family to experience life in other country.

Activities outside work?
I still play Aussie Rules Footy at home and have been since I was young. I managed to sneak in a few games with the Malaysian Warriors in my time in KL which involved a nice little trip to Shanghai for the weekend. I also obviously love to travel.

Reflections on your time in Kuala Lumpur and at Thomas Philip?
Was a fantastic experience not just from a personal cultural experience perspective, but also working within the law perspective and how different jurisdictions operate. It really gave me motivation to look towards other opportunities outside of Australia to broaden my experience and offer something different to employers when I finally decided to start my career at home. Matthew and all of the team at TP were so great to me during my time there and gave me some really challenging work to do for a person of that experience level at that time. I was even lucky enough to be invited to a wedding in Melaka which shows that the experience at TP wasn't just about the work.
