Jason Yong Kok Yew

Jason is a Principal Associate in the firm’s Civil Litigation department. He holds an LL.B (Hons) degree from Cardiff University, U.K. He was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2018.

Although Jason’s experience encompasses a wide array of general civil litigation, his practice is focused primarily on corporate and commercial litigation, with a portfolio comprising of numerous high-level shareholder disputes as well as claims for breaches of fiduciary and directors’ duties.

Jason also leads the firm’s first foray into a mixed practice team, developing a growing portfolio of corporate transactions and advisory matters in an attempt to deliver more holistic services to our clients.

Aside from his dual practice areas, Jason is also familiar with insolvency work, corporate rescue mechanisms available to companies in distress, and personal data protection in Malaysia.

Team Members

  • Successfully resisted an injunction to declare as null and void the convening of an extraordinary general meeting of a Malaysian public listed company, paving the way for a change in control of the public listed company.
  • Advised the judicial manager of a Malaysian private company on the settlement of a joint venture agreement worth about RM300 million.
  • Spearheaded various share acquisition and disposal transactions between RM25 million and RM150 million in value.
